Computer Hardware Engineers are responsible for the hardware configuration of a computer they will be involved in the design and will update components and systems to improve efficiency, they will analyse existing systems to identify flaws or inefficiencies and will be involved in new innovative designs to develop the most compact, fast and cost effective models.
A degree in computer systems engineering, computing, computer science or a computer maintenance qualification at a college. You may be able to start as an apprentice computer service technician and work you way up.
A thorough knowledge of operating systems, hardware and commonly used software, good communication skills, good at problem solving, calm under pressure, organised.
