Job Description

Plans, directs and co-ordinates activities in the engineering department including liaising with management, production and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures. Will recruit and train staff and develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the department.

Entry Requirements

You’ll usually need experience and qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering, welding, or manufacturing.

Qualifications in team leading, quality control or first line management would be useful but not essential.

Career Path and Progression

With experience, you could become a workshop manager. You could also move into quality control or health and safety inspection.

National Government Policy states that all students should have achieved at least a Grade 4 or C Grade in English & Maths at GCSE.  Achieving this minimum grade in these subjects will increase the opportunities open to you, support your future career development and prospects.

Students who do not meet this standard will be supported to continue to study English and Maths through full-time education or an Apprenticeship.
