Job Description

A roof slater or tiler will remove and replace broken tiles on an existing building or install them on a new property. They will fit felt sheets to roofs, measure and cut materials, cut and fit lead flashing around chimney stacks and walls and seal roof joints with mortar. They are often self employed and will be sub contracted by builders this could be for commercial or private properties.

Entry Requirements

Although no formal qualifications are required there are college courses available which would help you progress your career. Finding work as a roofing labourer or apprentice is a common way of getting into this career.
