The candidate will learn specific baking skills that will help them progress within a pastry baking career. For this role it will be a mixture of hands on work along with learning the theoretical side of pastry work.
They will be taught skills and theories such as:
How artisan pastries are made from scratch and why they are different.
Why the ingredients used are important and how they affect the final product.
How to measure and weigh ingredients for specific products and follow recipes.
Safe and hygienic storage of ingredients.
Allergens and safe handling of products within a food environment.
Online training for the above.
How to use and maintain machinery used within the bakery.
Creating pastries from scratch, from the mixing and folding through to the baking.
How to finish and decorate pastries and cakes.
How to work as part of a team.
How to best communicate with other team members and also customers.
