We have created a new role called ‘trainee chef’ which gives a perfect opportunity to understand how a commercial kitchen operates. By working with the rest of the wagamama team, shadowing + learning from our experienced chefs.
Kickstarters will learn the foundations of food safety and health + safety practices as well as having fun being a part of the team along the way. We will help the Kickstarter understand ingriedents and how we put them together and the uniqueness of the wagamama way.
During a typical day Kickstarters will help with setting up the kitchen ready for service, supporting chefs by helping with prep and putting our fresh ingredients together. They’ll shawdow a chef on a section to learn best cooking practices and will get to eat lots of our brilliant food.
Once Kickstarters will have learnt how to, they will be able to use state-of-art commerical kitchen equipment and cook our famous katsu curry as well as the rest of the menu for family, friends, and our guests.
Kickstarters will learn to make the best use of time through our employability workshops as well as CV building, interview skills and employability soft skills. they willl also develop their functional skills by reading food specs and weighing ingredients etc.
Mastering one section of our four stations at a time, wok, ramen, teppan + fry, they will learn how to prepare, cook + present wagamama dishes, following our recipes + specifications.
Kickstarters will gain knowledge about our fresh ingredients + the best way to prepare them.
Kickstarters will utilise basic knife skills and how to correctly cut a range of vegetables, fish + meat which they may need to do on each shift.
Kickstarters will help to cook dishes to meet the needs of the guests, using our electronic ticketing system to create the right dish on time and presenting it to the front of house employees for them to serve to guests.
Kickstarters will also set up and clean down sections before and after service depending on which shift they are working, here they will learn the foundations of food safety and how to keep our kitchens clean, safe and up to a high standard by following our health and safety procedures and cleaning practices.
