Given the repercussions of the pandemic, pharmacy teams all over the UK have been stretched and have had to adapt to Covid-19 guidelines under immense pressure. This includes doing extra tasks such as using pharmacy staff to manage the entry of patients into the pharmacy, ensuring social distancing between patients and helping with a robust cleaning protocol. There has also been a surge in consultations and queries, with pharmacies taking on more referrals from 111 than ever before.
Pharmacies are in a situation where they would benefit from having junior staff, who can be put on accredited pharmacy courses and be certificated on completion.
Their role will involve helping with the aforementioned extra tasks which have been created as a result of the pandemic, serving on the counter, signposting patients, managing stock , sorting medicines and prescriptions and reducing the overall admin burden for pharmacy teams.
