This is a six-month training role to access the role of support worker. Whilst fully embracing the company ethos junior support workers work alongside the support team to provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyones individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they want to live.
Support is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this may be in residential care or in the individuals own home.
You will be part of the support team enabling the individual to live and enjoy the life they wish to have. Fully involving them and their families and support them in all aspects of their care and support planning. This will develop your communication skills
Under the guidance of support workers and Team Leaders to ensure the individuals needs are met to maintain health and well-being, physically, mentally, and emotionally. This will improve your ability to empathise and understand differing needs.
Supporting the team to ensure accurate recording and evidencing outcomes in care records, ensuring confidentiality. This will enable you to understand the importance of careful and accurate record keeping.
Work alongside the support team in encouraging the individuals you support to engage with activities they already enjoy, and to seek out new experiences, actively involve them in making decision about everyday tasks that will enhance their independence and engage with the wider community. This will enable you to share their interests and gain an insight into new experiences.
You will empower individuals to actively achieve their goals by taking time and communicating in their preferred method, be aware of the individuals beliefs and cultural needs and work in an open and trustworthy manner.
To actively participate in training opportunities, attending all core skills and mandatory training to reach the required level of competence and utilising new skills to continuously improve and develop.
Be alert to and proactive in safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of the people supported, yourself and colleagues based in the service, and escalate concerns in a timely, professional and appropriate manner.
