The catering assistant roles will involve a broad range of tasks in our new community café, The Royal Oak on Felixstowe Road (IP3 8EB), where all recruits will be working on-site (at least) four days a week. The Royal Oak Cafe is a start-up, it's part of Emmaus Suffolk, a charity for the homeless who will be some of your customers. You? You'll be in the kitchen learning the basics like peeling spuds to running between the kitchen and the customers learning how to take orders and keep them happy. The role covers all aspects of basic catering and front of house service so that after six months, you can knock on the door of any cafe, pub or restaurant and get asked in.
We are a small, dynamic organisation that is committed to providing a high quality and affordable food offer at our new cafe and you will be an essential part of this service. A significant part of the role will involve maintaining cleanliness throughout the premises, in the kitchen and front of house, and ensuring a high standard of health and safety is always adhered to. Along with the practical day-to-day tasks like food prep, cooking, cleaning and washing-up, there may be opportunities to try your hand at marketing, promotion and contributing to the overall presentation of the café.
