This is a site based role, working with experienced teams to learn a valuable trade in the rapidly expanding Telecoms industry. The initial training 1 week will be completed at the John Henry Group Training Centre in Longstanton, Cambridge. Work experience will be gained at work sites in the South East on behalf of one of our clients Vodafone, Openreach, Virgin Media or Gigaclear. Those who successfully complete the 6 month programme will gain the Openreach fibre splicing accreditations needed to work as a splicer on the BT network. During your 6 month placement, you will build capability in.
Installing new sections of telecoms fibre, underground and overhead via poles.
Working to the clients specification and network regulations.
The art of splicing sections of cable together.
Collecting required stores from the yard and checking all plant or equipment are in good working order.
Completing on site risk assessments and complying with HSE method statements.
Setting up a works site in compliance with legal requirements.
Working safely, wearing correct PPE/clothing at all times.
Informing the Project Manager of changes to the plan of works or network to ensure client records are current.
Using the JHG Geosight App to record works completed.
Logging materials used and returning excess to stores.
Reporting any accidents or near misses on site.
