Working week
Flexible working shift to fit branch rota (to be discussed at interview). In line with business needs, this vacancy is less than 30 hours per week. The overall duration of the apprenticeship is therefore extended accordingly.

Principal Responsibilities:

Delivering of activities program
Recording the activities in the format requested by the manager

Where required:

  • Ensure Residents are treated with Privacy and Dignity and at all times
  • Help Residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in use and care of aids and personal equipment
  • Keep up to date with Residents care needs by reading Care Plans, Risk Assessments and Daily Notes
  • Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of Residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations
  • Answer emergency bells, the door bell and the telephone; greet visitors
  • Read and write reports; take part in staff and Residents' meetings, Shift Handovers and in training activities as directed
  • Contribute towards the development of activities and day care programmes for Residents in which they can join in and which will enhance their quality of life
  • Such other duties as may be required

Desired qualifications
GCSE (or equivalent) grades A*-C or 9-4 English and maths.

If you don't have these, you must show you can work at the required level (via Initial assessments and diagnostics) and be prepared and willing to complete the Functional Skills qualifications in your own time alongside the apprenticeship. Training for this will be provided by Adult Learning. We offer a flexible delivery style suit every learners’ individual needs and requirements.

If you don't already have, you will work towards:

Care Certificate (This will be completed over the first 12 weeks of employment if a formal care qualification is not held).
Future prospects
The successful applicant will be considered for a permanent role if the apprenticeship is completed successfully and maintained satisfactory performance levels.
Things to consider
In very rare and extreme circumstances, you may be required to support with basic care duties. Black Swan Care Group will be putting the successful applicant through the Care Certificate training at the start of employment.

Training will be provided by Adult Learning. This will include monthly visits in the workplace with the assessor and individual study time.

The successful candidate will study the intermediate Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 apprenticeship course, and this will include English and maths, if required.

There will also be some care-giving training alongside this apprenticeship standard.

Black Swan Care Group will provide in-house mentors who will assess your progress in collaboration with Adult Learning and this will include Off-the-job training.

The Apprenticeship will involve an End Point Assessment that the successful candidate will work towards and complete at the end of their apprenticeship. Support will be given by Adult Learning assessor to ensure enough preparation.
