About

8th February 2018

What you will do: The duration of the scheme is 3 years, during which time you will be assigned to an actuarial team in our General Insurance (GI) business based in Norwich. Our GI actuarial teams are involved in a variety of actuarial work including Actuarial and Financial Reporting, Capital Management, Underwriting, Protection Pricing, Risk Management and Reserving.

You will study towards internationally recognised professional examinations with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) that rival anything a degree might offer. These examinations will provide you with the core technical knowledge necessary to develop your actuarial career. The Core Technical subjects cover everything from Financial Mathematics, Models and Statistical Methods to Probability, Financial Reporting and Economics. Please visit http://www.actuaries.org.uk/ for more information on the IFoA syllabus and exam structure.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

A strong academic record and an aptitude for learning are vital.

High verbal & numeric aptitude test scores are essential to prove capability to attain passes in your actuarial exams, which are required in order to be retained on the scheme.

We require you to demonstrate a flair for numbers, so you’ll need to be expecting to achieve an ‘A’ grade at A-Level maths and 340+ UCAS points. But we're looking for a lot more than that. Confidence and communication skills are also key, along with an understanding of what an actuarial career entails.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills

We believe a positive, progressive approach is also a crucial requirement for the role, allied to a passion for a successful career in business. We search for dynamic individuals who have the makings of an exceptional team player and communicator, not just those who have an impressive résumé and suit.

No specific experience is required for the role, although our recruitment process involves a review of non-academic activities to select candidates with a broad range of skills, showing evidence of teamwork, communication and initiative.

What will you get for this role?

  • Salary of £20,250
  • Generous defined contribution pension scheme
  • Annual performance related bonus and pay review
  • Minimum holiday allowance of 25 days plus bank holidays and the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days
  • Up to 30% discount for some Aviva products through “My Aviva Extras” plus discounts for Friends and Family
  • Excellent range of flexible benefits to include a matching share save scheme
