Eastern Concrete supply off site-mixed and ready-mixed concrete and currently employ 68 people across our sites.

Founded in 2002, we’re based in Stowmarket and operate throughout the region, serving clients in Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Norwich, and more. Our fleet of 30 plus volumetric & ready-mix concrete trucks are well equipped and always ready to deliver quality concrete.

Out-of-hours solutions is one of our main specialities, with weekend and night deliveries by prior arrangement being a main focus.

With a client base that includes Local Authorities, Regional & National Contractors, Civil Engineers, HA Approved Contractors, HA Framework Contractors, Rail Contractors, Specialist Fencing and Signage Contractors and the domestic & DIY markets, our services are used for a range of industries with many returning customers.

Our large client base of frequently returning customers includes contractors, construction firms, and more from both Norfolk and further around East Anglia.

Domestic customers are also frequently using our services, with extensions, garden work, and driveways being some common tasks that we apply our concrete services to.

Main description

Eastern Concrete Limited currently employees 68 people across our sites and we supply off site-mixed and ready-mixed concrete. There is an exciting opportunity for a Accounts Assistant Apprentice to join the team.

REPORTING TO: Team Leader/Financial Controller

A key role within the accounts team providing support across all functions.


Daily Banking and Post duties.
Purchase Ledger –matching GRN’s and coding invoices ready for processing.
Resolving invoicing queries.
Sales Invoicing – daily, raise sales invoices for ready mix deliveries.
Sales Receipts – daily, process cash/card payments/refunds and prepare sales receipts.
Print Card payment emails, match to delivery ticket/order number and file ready for invoicing.
Send POD’s to customers.
Ensuring all delivery tickets are returning to accounts office and scanned numerically.
Assist the account team whenever required.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in maths and English, or equivalent, is essential.

Skills required

Computer literate.
Communicates well, and able to develop relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
Flexible and adaptable to changing demands and procedures.

Personal qualities

Willing to work within a small team.
Highly accurate, and can demonstrate attention to detail.
Friendly and approachable, a team player who will go the extra mile.

Training to be Provided

Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship.
Level 2 AAT Qualification.

Things to consider

The location is on a local bus route. There is free car parking on site.

Future Prospects

We would anticipate the position becoming full time and for you to be an integral part of the team.
