Headway Suffolk is a registered charity in England that offers advice, support, rehabilitation and support services to anyone (over the age of 16) who has, during their lifetime, sustained a brain injury through traumatic accident, stroke, virus, tumour, neurological condition or other similar event. 

They are looking for an apprentice Brain Injury Support Worker.

Main description

Main Duties:

  • Assist and enable attendees with their rehabilitation post injury.
  • To work one to one with clients when required and to ensure they are safe and joining in with activities.
  • To provide stimulating activities for people with an acquired brain injury and neurological conditions.
  • To run rehabilitation groups, such as basic and life skills for people with an acquired brain injury or neurological condition.
  • To keep records of the activities and progress clients make.
  • To work with other staff to help with the rehabilitation of clients.
  • To ensure clients visit appropriate web sites.
  • To ensure all activities are safe for our clients.
  • To help with personal care of attendees.
  • To be aware of Health and safety issues.
  • To attend all staff meetings.
  • Will be aware of the policies and procedures affecting the organisation and its operation.
  • To keep all areas clean and tidy.
  • To help to clean the hub
  • Work at all times for the benefit of the users and the organisation.
  • Will maintain complete confidentiality at all times.

Entry requirements

Maths and English GCSE grades 4 or above/equivalent - Desirable.

Training to be Provided

The learner will be studying the Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

Things to consider

Must be able to communicate with clients some of whom will not have speech or other communication skills, be able to write emails, clients’ records, be able to communicate to team members, be able to work as part of a team, and must be able to plan group and one to one activities which the needs of the clients as described in the care plan.

Future Prospects

Full time work with Headway either in the hub or community.
