Our company has a joinery shop that makes windows, doors, stairs, kitchens, fitted furniture and one off pieces which are then fitted by the site team. We also offer a full onsite side of the company including roofs, 1st and 2nd fix as well as working on listed buildings using traditional methods. In the last 5 years we have also started to do building works and cover other areas of the building trade.

Help set up and pack away tools
Help with holding/ supporting materials.
Loading out materials
Helping carpenters perform tasks.
Shadowing experienced carpenters while on site/joinery shop
Measuring and cutting to length materials
Cleaning up at the end of every day
Shown how to use power tools
Once an understanding is reached performing tasks independently.
Communicating with others
The candidate will learn on the job and will take a minimum of 3 years to learn the range of tasks required of a qualified carpenter. Applicants need to be methodical and patient as they will not always be hands on and will need to learn from watching others.
Once trained on tasks they will be set challenges to help build confidence.
At least a GCSE 4 in Maths and English is desirable but not essential. If you do not hold these, you will complete Functional Skills as part of your apprenticeship.

Things to consider
The job will be a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities. Age or gender is not a concern to us as long as you are prepared to learn, have good social skills, are hard-working, and not distracted easily e.g. by your phone. If the candidate could drive this would be a real benefit. Exact wage will depend on age and experience - minimum £4.30ph. If you do not like working in cold weather or working at heights then it would not be the job for you.
The candidate on completion of the apprenticeship would be offered the opportunity of a full time position as a qualified carpenter/joiner. The company works on some unique projects and buildings which will continue to develop the range of carpentry and joinery related tasks and knowledge of the building trade beyond their apprenticeship training.
