The Apprentice Carpenter who would work alongside experienced Carpenter to learn the construction trade.
Revell Carpentry Ltd are looking for an apprentice to give someone the opportunity to learn and develop a wide range of carpentry skills alongside a number of different trades working on new builds, renovations projects to listed buildings.
The type of work we undertake is very varied and covers all aspects of carpentry, including:
- Timber framing
- First fixing
- Second fixing
- General residential renovations and maintenance projects involving Carpentry skills.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Initially an apprentice will be taught the basic skills required to carry out general carpentry work, for example learning to use tools confidently and getting used to the materials that they will use regularly.
This will be achieved by shadowing and being mentored, asking questions, and working closely alongside the company owner, and as their skill set improves, they will gradually be expected to undertake more complex work on their own under-supervision.

Training to be provided
The practical training period of the Carpentry apprenticeship is the time dedicated to the development of the knowledge, skills, and behaviours for which includes the following components;
On-programme assignments and assessments
Workplace portfolio of evidence
English and Maths (exemptions apply).
Day release at Cambridge campus and working alongside qualified, friendly and a small team of professionally trained/ experienced Carpenters.
The apprentice would be assigned an assessor through the college, who would typically come out to visit in the workplace to assess workplace competence. The knowledge side would be provided via day release workshop attendance, assignments, evidence of workplace competence. Portfolio would be checked via an online Smart Assessor.
GCSE or equivalent English and Maths (Grade 3 or D) Essential

Things to consider
- Working outside a lot in all weather conditions, some early days and some late.
- You must be hard working, reliable, punctual, able to work as a team member, enthusiastic and motivated.
- Capable of meeting the physical demands of the work – we work within domestic and commercial venues and there will be early starts on shift.
- Ideally the successful applicant will either a have driving licence, or be based within the Saffron Walden, Cambridge, and Newmarket region for pickup to work arrangements, if required.
- Must have a CSCS Card before staring work - this can be arranged if not already registered.
- Apprentice duties will be supervised by competent and qualified colleague.
