Position Summary

Primarily positioned in the Machine Shop as an Apprentice CNC Setter and Operator, supporting the roles of other machine shop responsibilities on a day-to-day basis. You will be responsible for managing and ensuring that machines are correctly configured to produce the required components, as well as performing preventative and breakdown maintenance tasks to keep the machines running. The position will revolve around the Machine Shop environment, allowing for training in specifically but not limited to the CNC machines and associated equipment.

Performance Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Immediate Performance Objectives
    • Learn role of CNC Machine Setter and Operator
    • Familiarization with Machine Shop environment and daily tasks
  • The Big-Picture/Strategic Deliverables
    • To Program, Set and Operate a range of CNC Turning Centres
    • Quality check parts produced in machine shop
  • Primary Responsibilities
    • Day-to-day support of the Machine Shop workload
    • Performing maintenance on machinery

Qualifications

  • Language Requirements
    • Fluent English essential
  • Education Requirements
    • Strong written, verbal and numerical skills essential
    • STEM Subject taken during GCSE’s or A-levels
    • Must hold at least 5 GCSE’s and a grade C (or higher) in both Maths and English
  • Personal Requirements
    • Willing to learn and support machine shop processes
    • Desire to become competent in all key areas of the machine shop and associated functions
  • Experience Requirements
    • Basic Health and Safety knowledge
    • Practically Minded
  • Mobility & Travel Requirements
    • Occasional UK Travel – travel to other ESAB sites may be required
