Dental Excellence in the heart of Bury Saint Edmunds. We have state of the art facilities in a building designed with all the space we are ever likely to need to create a centre of excellence. We have eight surgeries, a large free car park, and provide disabled access and a lift to the first floor waiting area which can be also used space to offer oral hygiene education for children. Our main focus is to provide the best possible private dental care, but we also emphasise Preventive Dentistry and have six hygienists working with us. We try to take a long-term view in our treatment planning and offer a full range of expertise such as implants, orthodontics, all-ceramic restorations, sedation, cosmetic and NHS dentistry.
Main description
The apprenticeship in dental nursing is an 18-month government funded course - City & Guilds Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dental Nursing. The job entails assisting the dentist, sterilising equipment, reception and any other ad hoc duties as may be required.
Provide efficient and reliable chair-side support to Practice Clinicians.
The role will also require working in other areas of the practice such as:
- Reception
- Dealing with patient queries
- Answering the phone
- Taking payments and booking appointments
Training to be provided
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

This qualification is a level 3 advanced apprenticeship accredited by City & Guilds and is delivered nationwide through blended interactive E-Learning, enabling learners to access the course from anywhere in the UK
Upon achievement the apprentice will be awarded a Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3.
Functional Skills English & maths level 2 qualifications unless already exempt

Essential qualifications
GCSE in: Maths and English (grade 4)

Other requirements
You will be required to be immunised against Hepatitis B. You will also need to pass a DBS check.
Future prospects
With experience you may be able to move into jobs like team manager, team leader or dental practice manager
With further training you could become a dental therapist, helping a dentist carry out the more routine dentistry work. You could also become a dental hygienist, helping people to look after their teeth and gums
You might decide to train as an orthodontic therapist helping dentists to improve the look and position of a patient's teeth
