The Drayton Medical Practice is a dispensing, urban/rural medical practice situated to the north of the city of Norwich. The practice area includes the residential suburbs of Norwich and extends into the outlying villages. To cover this area, there are three fully equipped surgeries: Drayton, Horsford and Horsham St Faith. Nine doctors and a full compliment of the primary care team provide care for approximately 18,200 patients registered with the practice.
The Drayton Medical Practice has been involved in the training of general practitioners since the inception of the GP training scheme in the 1970s. The practice has become involved in medical research as an MRC designated research practice as well as hosting externally funded research into epilepsy, gastroenterology and asthma.
They have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join the team.
Working in our dispensary at St Faiths, this role will assist our dispensing team with issuing medication to patients.
Processing the 48 hour repeat prescriptions, checking procedures and patients’ queries.
Follow Standard operating procedures
To participate in team working.

Possible Start Date:
Ensure that the dispensary is kept properly stocked with supplies.
All medicines are prepared and dispensed accurately (following training and under the supervision of a dispenser).
Stock control – unpacking orders, checking invoices and expiry date control.
All dispensary equipment is kept in proper order including the refrigerator- recording fridge/room temperatures daily.
All drugs and medicines are kept safely.
All the legal requirements applicable to dispensing practice and medicines are properly observed.
The dispensary is kept clean and tidy at all times.
Minimum 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) including maths and English at 4 or above.
Good communication skills.
Able to work without supervision.
Good computer input skills.
Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team.
Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities.
Ability to work within and adapt to a busy and changing work environment.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to use own judgement and show initiative.
High standard of personal presentation.

Things to consider
This role will be in a busy environment where maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and a good level of concentration will be required all day. This role will have frequent contact with members of the public so the candidate should be comfortable speaking to people in person and on the phone.
As the applicant develops this could lead to full time employment and offers a path to further qualifications in dispensary / pharmacy areas.
