Apprentice Engineering Design and Draughtsperson Level 3 - AQUATERRA ENERGY LIMITED
An Apprentice Engineering Design and Draughtsperson (Level 3) is required. This is an opportunity to join a team of professional design engineers working in the offshore oil/gas & energy transition industries. The role encompasses all aspects of mechanical engineering, and provides a challenging and rewarding career path for the apprentice. Duties include: engineering drawings and 3D models, using Solidworks and AutoCAD.

What will the apprentice be doing?
The Apprentice Design Engineer will be trained to provide expertise in CAD and Engineering Draughtsman ship. It is also anticipated that they will progress on to develop other engineering skills such as writing calculations and engineering analysis. As such, key duties and responsibilities will be:
- Engineering drawings and 3D models, using Solidworks and AutoCAD.
- Engineering calculations, with traditional hand calculation methods, using Mathcad Prime.
- Engineering analysis, using Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS).
- Engineering reports, using MS Word.
- Mechanical principles, material selection and application.
- Fundamentals of engineering drawing and design.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The successful candidate will attend the College of West Anglia, Kings Lynn campus on a day release basis for 3 years.
The first year will include the relevant practical skills learning in the engineering workshop. Year 2 and 3 will include all the relevant knowledge required to support the end point assessment of the Engineering Design and Draughtsperson level 3 apprenticeship. Guidance will be given by the nominated commercial trainer to support your work-based portfolio through to achievement of the apprenticeship.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Further to the completion of the apprenticeship a structured career path will be supported to allow progression to engineer/senior engineer, and to achieve professional recognition through to Chartered Engineer status with the Engineering Council of UK.
