About the employer
The World’s leading supplier of split roller bearings which is part of SKF, the World’s largest bearing company with circa 45,000 employees.

Location will be King’s Lynn for the duration of the apprenticeship.


Working week
Monday to Thursday 8 hrs, Friday 5 hrs .1st year 08;30 to 17:00 Yrs 2,3, & 4 can be 06:00 to 14:00, 14:00 to 22:00 or office hours depending on placement. 25 days holiday per annum, Wage £5.76/hr in yr 1 - over £11/hr in yr 4. Total hours per week: 37.00

Training will initially be in a dedicated apprentice workshop for the first year and moving into the manufacturing machine shops for years 2, 3 & 4.

Skills learnt in the first year will include (but not lilmited to):

  • Manual and CNC Turning
  • Manual and CNC Milling
  • Grinding and Bench fitting

In years 2,3 & 4 these skills will be expanded production methods  whilst progressing throughout the factory on 6 to 8 week placements within each different manufacturing department within the company. Additional skills such and drawing office, QA, R&D will also be gained whilst continuing through the various areas.

The main contact throughout the apprenticeship will be the Apprentice Supervisor and a dedicated Apprentice Advisor based at the College of West Anglia.
