Eastern Concrete supply off site-mixed and ready-mixed concrete and currently employ 68 people across our sites.

Founded in 2002, we’re based in Stowmarket and operate throughout the region, serving clients in Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Norwich, and more. Our fleet of 30 plus volumetric & ready-mix concrete trucks are well equipped and always ready to deliver quality concrete.

Out-of-hours solutions is one of our main specialities, with weekend and night deliveries by prior arrangement being a main focus.

With a client base that includes Local Authorities, Regional & National Contractors, Civil Engineers, HA Approved Contractors, HA Framework Contractors, Rail Contractors, Specialist Fencing and Signage Contractors and the domestic & DIY markets, our services are used for a range of industries with many returning customers.

Our large client base of frequently returning customers includes contractors, construction firms, and more from both Norfolk and further around East Anglia.

Domestic customers are also frequently using our services, with extensions, garden work, and driveways being some common tasks that we apply our concrete services to.

Main description

Eastern Concrete Limited currently employees 68 people across our sites and we supply off site-mixed and ready-mixed concrete. There is an exciting opportunity for a Customer Service Apprentice to join the team.

REPORTING TO: Operations Manager

JOB PURPOSE:
You will co-ordinate concrete deliveries in a busy market and be involved in taking customer orders and organising the day-to-day distribution of deliveries and scheduling, liaising with customers at all stages to ensure customer satisfaction.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Taking customer orders by phone.
Timely and accurate input of all customer concrete orders.
Respond to all customer enquiries and complaints.
Communicate with internal stakeholders.
Action smaller orders and refer all other enquiries to the Commercial Manager.
Read and respond to all other emails.
Provide quotations and sales reports.
Provide specific support to the pre-planning of major contracts or schemes in terms of production and transport capacity planning.
Actively seek to build new and existing customer relationships.
Liaise with the Batchers and Drivers on a daily basis to inform them of their work schedules.
To conduct the daily ticket review to confirm pricing for both cash customers and account customers and to ensure pricing is in line with quotations.
Update daily spreadsheets to confirm output.
Cost effective despatch planning/shipping of all customer orders through active liaison with commercial, operations and transport teams.
Liaise with the Transport & Maintenance Manager in relation to truck repairs and maintenance schedules.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

A sales focused individual who has the passion and drive to proactively develop our customer base whilst delivering exceptional customer service. You will gain experience in sales and be able to thrive in a busy environment and have excellent IT and communication skills. A good understanding of sales and distribution would be advantageous and you will need to be able to work on your own initiative. You will be an excellent communicator and proactive self-starter who can build effective relationships both with colleagues and customers.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in maths and English, or equivalent, is essential.

Skills required

Strong customer service skills.
Excellent IT and communication skills.
Have a good understanding of sales and distribution.
Able to work on your own initiative.
