Main description
After putting it off for a long time, we're officially looking for a new tattoo apprentice to join the team at Angry Elf.
This is not a casual position, and it's not for somebody chasing the idea of tattooing without understanding the work, discipline, commitment and professionalism involved.
We're looking for somebody creative, hardworking, reliable and genuinely driven to improve both artistically and personally.
Compatibility is hugely important to us.
We've built a close-knit team and studio environment over many years, so attitude, communication, professionalism and how somebody fits within the team matters just as much as artistic ability.
We're looking for somebody who genuinely wants to grow with the studio long-term and become part of what we're building.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
• Strong drawing and design ability
• Good communication and people skills
• Reliability and professionalism
• Attention to detail
• A willingness to learn from the ground up
• Somebody motivated, self-aware and able to take constructive criticism
• A genuine passion for tattooing and art
Entry requirements
APPLICANTS MUST:
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Show genuine original artwork
• Include traditional artwork/sketchbook work alongside any digital work where possible
• Be available Tuesday–Saturday
WORKING HOURS:
• Start time: 9:30am Tuesday–Saturday
• Finish times vary depending on workload, typically between 4pm–6pm
• Applicants must be willing to attend occasional weekend conventions and events when required
IMPORTANT
Please do not apply with AI-generated artwork, copied designs, or poorly executed self-taught tattoos/practice tattoos.
We value proper training, professionalism and respect for the craft, and we're looking for somebody willing to learn correctly from the ground up.
Future prospects
APPRENTICESHIP PROGRESSION:
Tattoo apprenticeships are first and foremost a training position.
The successful applicant will begin by learning the fundamentals of working within a professional tattoo studio and will be expected to demonstrate commitment, reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic.
As their skills, responsibilities and contribution to the studio develop, opportunities for paid responsibilities and progression will be introduced.
We're looking for somebody who understands that an apprenticeship is an investment in their future career and is prepared to earn their place within the industry.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
Successful applicants will be shortlisted down to a final 3 candidates.
Each shortlisted candidate will complete a two-week trial period within the studio environment so we can assess attitude, compatibility, work ethic, professionalism and overall fit for the team.
Following this stage, one applicant will be offered the apprenticeship position.
