** 18 month Fixed Term Contract - Apprenticeship **
We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration Apprenticeship Programme within the duration of the placement.
The Arthur South Day Procedure Unit is a fully integrated unit comprising of Surgical and Anaesthetic pre-assessment, theatres, recovery areas and wards. Our aim is to put patients first in an area of the highest quality of care. Alongside the nursing and medical teams, the administrative team ensures the unit runs smoothly, effectively and acts as a reliable point of contact along a patient's pathway. As part of this large and friendly team you'll be expected to maintain a high level of the patient-focused care we aim to deliver for our patients.
The role of the Apprentice Waiting List Assistant is to assist our centralised booking team with all aspects of waiting list management – including contacting patients and offering dates for operations and pre-operative assessment, populating theatre diaries and ORSOS with planned procedures and taking calls from patients querying all aspects of their surgical pathways. You will also assist the pre-operative nursing teams with all administrative related tasks. The post-holder will work well within a large team consisting of administrative, nursing and medical colleagues whilst ensuring communication and attention to detail is at a high level.
All applicants must be:
- Aged 16+
- Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years
- Must not have a Degree, Level 4 qualification or above
- Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Good general standard of education
- 4 GCSE’s at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills

Full time: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts are currently 08:00 – 16:00 or 09:00 – 17:00 but may change to meet the needs of the service
