Assistant Librarian (Fixed Term)

Due to the generous donation of the Karsten Schubert collection to Norwich University of the Arts (NUA), we are seeking to appoint an experienced librarian to catalogue the collection for integration into our specialist arts, design, architecture and media Library.
The Library at NUA currently holds around 33,000 items, including books, DVDs, journals and special collections. The donation will significantly enhance our holdings in the arts, curation and fine arts in particular.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cataloguing and classifying all items retained from the donation, which is expected to be around 4,000 volumes. The post holder will be cataloguing the collection using NUA’s Library Management System: Heritage Cirqa. An understanding of cataloguing principles with be essential, as well as precision and attention to detail. Experience of cataloguing pamphlets and ephemera, and non-English materials will be an advantage. Classification will be into the NUA version of DDC 21 so knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System would be beneficial. The post holder will also be required to process all items and liaise with the wider library staff team in relation to stock management and associated tasks.

In addition to processing the donation, there will be scope within the role for promotion of the collection, using both internal and external communication methods, including social media.
