24th March 2022

Interested in a career in accountancy and considering your options for the future? If so, our 6-week Summer Internship (11th July – 19th August 2022) is a chance to experience life and work at a leading accountancy and business advisory firm and add value to your CV.

You’ll get a real insight into our business and culture and a taste of life at the heart of the firm, working on interesting projects alongside graduate trainees and senior experienced professionals.

We have positions available in our Audit, Tax, Advisory and Business Services & Outsourcing streams of service in a range of locations across the UK.

We kick things off with a week-long induction where you’ll gain an insight into BDO, have opportunities network with peers, your buddy and meet people from all areas of our business.

The programme continues with technical training in your chosen field, delivered by our internal training teams. Covering multiple days, this will give you a unique insight into the stream you have applied for and the kind of work undertaken by trainees in their first year.

There will be a taster of the apprenticeship pathways and you will take part in interactive sessions on key topics such as well-being and personal branding within the workplace.

You will have the chance to immerse yourself into life at BDO. You may attend client meetings and will have lots of opportunities to gain an insight into different areas of the business and the types of projects we work on. You will also work in a team alongside other students to complete a group project designed to apply your knowledge of the firm, the sector more broadly and the economy at large. You will have the opportunity to present this project at the end of your internship.

During the last week of your internship you will have the opportunity to interview with one of our Partners to secure a graduate role at BDO.

For this programme, we’re looking for students in their penultimate year of university, with:

  • A predicted 2:2 degree or higher in any discipline at a UK university
  • Three A-levels or equivalent at A* to C excluding General Studies and Extended Projects
  • 9 to 4 in Maths and English at GCSE/Scottish Standards or equivalent
  • Available to attend on the dates of the programme and be within a commutable distance from the office you are applying to

Please make sure you apply to the stream and team which most interests you as there will be an opportunity to secure an exciting graduate role following the internship.

Applications will open soon and if you meet our eligibility requirements, you will be invited to a virtual Interactive Assessment. The assessment has been designed to look for grit and determination, a willingness to embrace our digital reality and the ability to apply your creativity and knowledge to solve any problem.

If you are successful you will then take part in a virtual Assessment Centre with some key objectives to achieve by the end of the day. Some of the tasks include:

Group exercise
Individual presentation
Video interview
Written exercise
