Role Snapshot…
Provide comprehensive, flexible effective administrative support to the services of our CNC Building Control/Planning Team, to meet our customers’ needs. This is a great entry role for anyone looking for a career in Business Support and Administration or as a first step into Planning/Surveying.
You will also be expected to study and complete the Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship.
What you could be part of…
Our Business Support team provide a technical and administrative service to the Building Control Surveyors/Planning Officers, dealing with Building Regulation/Planning applications, property search requests and calls from builders, agents and homeowners requiring their building work to be inspected/Passed by our Professional Surveyors/Planning Officers. Also ensuring that our systems are maintained to the highest standard to enable the Councils to meet their statutory obligations to protect, enhance and keep our communities safe and vibrant. You will part of a flexible team of administrators that often work across our four service functions of Planning, Land Charges, Building Control and Regulatory, so this role will never be dull and there will always be something new to learn!

What you’ll be doing…
- Assisting with all incoming communication.
- Provide administrative support to the services of the Place Directorate.
- Checking and verifying customer requests, updating, and maintaining computer systems as necessary.
- Raising sales ledger invoices and purchase orders and undertaking reconciliation and goods receipting as required.
- Assist in the implementation of new and improving existing office systems, to meet the overall directorate objectives and service area requirements.
- Responding to routine correspondence and enquiries from members of the public, suppliers and staff
- Provide document scanning and indexing services.
- Study for a technical qualification with the professional body – Level 3 in Business Administration.
You must have…
- Good general level of education including GCSE Maths & English (Grade 4-9) or equivalent
- Some basic administrative experience in a similar or related role
- Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the areas in which the apprenticeship is based
- Good IT skills with a knowledge of a range of computer packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel etc
- Evidence of confident communication skills and telephone manner
