About the scheme:
Our scheme provides ambitious graduates with a stimulating, meaningful and supportive route in which to gain your ICAEW qualification through the Level 7 Accounting Professional Apprenticeship, which is equivalent to a Master’s degree. The programme will give you the opportunity to become a well-rounded Chartered Accountant and help you launch a high achieving career, grounded in both an insurance specific and more general understanding of accountancy, finance and commercial business.
What you will do:
- Participate in a three-year scheme
- Complete three, one-year placements
- Study for the ICAEW qualification
- Qualify as a Chartered Accountant
You will complete your one-year placements in different Finance teams, based in Norwich or York. You can be assured that the placements will be dynamic, challenging and substantial, and provide you unrivalled breadth of experience to lay the foundations of your career. As valued member of the finance team from day one you will take ownership of the work you undertake, with clear objectives and responsibilities.
Alongside these placements you'll undertake your studies. Modules cover everything from Financial Reporting to Auditing, Law to Taxation – and each end with an exam. Don't worry though, you'll be able to concentrate fully on them, as you'll be taught by an external education company away from the office, and your manager, buddy and fellow cohort will be encouraging and supportive every step of the way. By the time you're done, you'll have a broad and detailed grounding in the world of commercial accounting as well as practical experience that will stand you in good stead throughout your career.
Where you’ll be located:
You’ll be based in either York or Norwich during your training. We prefer applicants to be flexible, but you can preference a location upon application. After you qualify, you’ll have the chance to be based in any of our UK offices, and who knows, think big and you could see you yourself in any number of our global offices too.
We are looking for highly motivated people who have graduated in any discipline and who have a keen interest in business, finance and insurance, and aspire to be a future Aviva leader. We look for:
- 120 UCAS points (new tariff) from 3 A Levels (or equivalent)
- A minimum of a 2.1 degree. This doesn’t have to be in Accountancy – graduates from diverse backgrounds are often able to offer fresh ideas and alternative view points, but you will need to be numerically competent.
No specific experience previous work experience is required either; mental dexterity is the crucial element, allied to a passion for business, plenty of initiative, great interpersonal skills and clear leadership potential.
