The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine tasks in preparing and leading a variety of educational and recreational activities for children. Using your own initiative you will design and implement a variety of activity plans taking into account any special needs to stimulate and sustain the interest of children and to contribute to their social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. Ensure care is provided in compliance with child development standards as outlined in current regulations and continually review activities and plans for appropriateness. Make changes where necessary to activities and plans to deal with unusual or difficult problems or situations associated with the needs of individual children. Provide training and instruction to subordinates and supervise program assistants or leaders. On occasion you will substitute for the director or assistant director in their absence. Maintain records of progress on children and monitors health and safety and security procedures and completes and submits reports and documents as necessary.
