CLINICAL PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITY
for
NEWLY-QUALIFIED COUNSELLORS
2021
The Stockwell Centre is an independent registered charity, founded in 1976, with an established private practice. It is located in a quiet house just off Colchester High Street, and provides primarily psychodynamic psychotherapy and counselling to individuals, couples and groups.
The Stockwell Centre also runs a Low-Fee Scheme which offers low cost therapy of up to year for a small number of potential clients who would otherwise be unable to access counselling due to financial restrictions. Before acceptance, clients are pre-assessed by a qualified Member of the Centre Practice Committee as potentially able to benefit from the scheme.
We match the Low-Fee Scheme with an Affiliate Scheme, to provide these clients with qualified counsellors, and to provide newly-qualified counsellors with the experience of working for a year with up to three clients, in a collegial environment.
We are currently inviting applications from psychotherapists or counsellors who have qualified, or are about to qualify, and wish to gain the additional clinical hours required for professional accreditation/ registration.
Affiliates receive free supervision from a senior in-house supervisor, and the use of a Centre counselling room for their Affiliate Scheme clients. Affiliates are also invited to join our clinical/journal discussion groups, gaining valuable experience and networking opportunities.
