Of these, nine hold relevant childcare qualifications at level 2 or above. The nursery opens from 8.15am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, for 51 weeks of the year. Harvey Road is an independent small not for profit day nursery based in the centre of Cambridge. Looking for a committed person that is flexible to join our dynamic team. You will assist in the supervision of the children, ensuring that the highest standards apply at all times, plus more
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Childcare:
- To assist in the supervision of the children, ensuring that the highest standards apply at all times
- To provide a stimulating environment and foster play with a purpose
- To encourage the children to maintain and develop their own individuality and independence within a supportive group care
- To keep a record of the activities undertaken during the week. When competent to be involved and contribute to planning of activities
- To bring to the attention of the Nursery Manager any concerns relating to sage guarding and health and safety of the children in your care
General:
- To be responsible for the care and cleaning of all Nursery equipment ensuring that a high standard is maintained
- To be involved in fund raising for Harvey Road Day Nursery
- To attend training courses as required by the Nursery Manager
- To treat any information of matters relating to the work within the Nursery as confidential
- To participate in room/staff meetings
- To be aware of hygiene and cleanliness within the room you are working, ensuring that a high standard is maintained
- To adhere to all Harvey Road Day Nursery policies
- To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time in keeping with the post
Training to be provided
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Your training plan
Early Years Practitioner Level 2.
Training is via Cambridge Regional College Day release and a work mentor, as well as on-going in-house training including child protection, health and Safety and food safety.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in: English (grade 3 or D) and Maths (grade 3 or D)

Other requirements
Employment is based at small, friendly long established Nursery with a great team.Enjoyment at being around young children, including enthusiasm and patience ,as well as being adaptable as every day will bring new surprises and wonders. A warm friendly smile to brighten every child's face each and every day. Be able to sing in tune or out of tune loudly to an audience of tiny humans who may happily just watch. Warm hugs available as and when required or just a shoulder to rest on. Eyes in the back of your head, all seeing and doing, yes, the children will believe you can see everything.
