Woodpeckers are a family run nursery that prides itself on our family vision, high standards, and 'home from home' environment. We have four rooms which cater for the developing needs of babies 0 through to 5 years of age- Busy Bees, Little Ladybirds, Curious Caterpillars, and Bright Butterflies. Our nursery is situated next to the beautiful water meadows, so nature is a huge part in all that we do. Be prepared for messy, exciting adventures, inside and out, whatever the weather!

Our nursery is situated next to the beautiful water meadows, so nature is a huge part in all that we do. We have an exciting opportunity for an Early Years Apprentice to join the team.

Woodpeckers Nursery has a fantastic opportunity for driven and passionate individuals to join our team. You must be prepared to be a proactive member of the team, providing a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment in which babies and young children are supported.

Responsibilities will include:

Create a warm and welcoming environment.
Communicating effectively with and working within a team, maintaining positive relationships and developing productive teamwork.
A willingness to learn new skills- observing, reflecting and evaluating.
Leaning skills in identifying and meeting children's needs- individually and within a group.
Have an ability to use own initiative, share ideas and information.
Develop and learn good knowledge of the EYFS framework, putting this into practice.
Listen to advice/constructive criticism from peers/management and act upon it.
An awareness of health and safety within the setting with the ability to report any hazards. Understand the importance of risk assessments.
To follow and understand the settings safeguarding procedures and policies, attending training when necessary.
To attend monthly staff meetings outside of working hours.
A willingness to set up, tidy away and prepare areas for the follow day.
Assist children in day-to-day independent skills and toileting needs (after supervision and guidance from staff).
Be supportive and diplomatic in your approach towards children and parents.
A willingness to continue with training to aid both your personal and the nursery development.

Entry requirements
Desired qualifications:

GCSEs at grades A*-C in Maths and English, or equivlent.
Level 2 qualification and relevant experience if you are looking to complete the Level 3 Apprenticeship straight away.

Skills required
Essential skills:

Understand the importance of keeping children and staff safe and the role you play.
Great communication skills.
Punctual and organised.
Able to fully embrace our ethos and vision.
Able to self motivate.
The ability to multi-task.


Experience of working with children.
You will be someone who is focused on delivering high standards of care with a natural ability to work as part of a team. You will show initiative, be forward thinking, have great communication skills, be reflective, and committed to developing and learning new skills.

If you already have a full Level 2 Early Years qualification, you will be able to complete the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship. The salary is dependent on age and experience, this is a minimum amount specified above.
