Working week
Hours to be discussed. Regular hours will fit in with college day release and move toward a Continental Shift Pattern (based on 12 hour days/nights with 4 on and 4 off) and consistency at weekends.Total hours per week: 42.00. (the hours are based on the candidate being over 18)

Main duties of this role are;

  • To work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge that will assist the apprentice to complete their 2/3 year apprenticeship and secure employment, progressing their career in the future
  • To work alongside the Mechanical and Electrical engineering team, and assist in conducting both routine preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns

Additional duties include;

  • To undertake a development programme leading to a Level 3 National Vocational Qualification as part of an apprenticeship
  • To actively participate in their own development plan, this will be agreed with the line manager and the assessor from the training provider
  • To work under supervision to learn mechanical and electrical engineering skills including both scheduled maintenance and reactive repairs as preparing and reviewing relevant reports and documentation
  • To undertake relevant training on and operate plant as directed. To take part in meetings, supervision and training as requested by the manager
  • To use information technology systems to carry out duties in the most efficient and effective manner
  • To achieve personal appraisal targets, as agreed by the line manager
  • To undertake training and constructively take part in meetings, supervision, seminars and other events designed to improve communication and assist with the effective development of the post and post holder
  • To carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the BWL Health and Safety Policy and relevant Health and Safety legislation
  • To ensure the Company’s policies and procedures are complied with at all times
  • General housekeeping as required
  • Any additional tasks commensurate with the post
