As a Reporting Scientist Intern you will support the analysis, interpretation and presentation of marine environmental data in reports to our clients. You will be one of the team responsible for producing our environmental habitat assessments, baselines and monitoring reports.

You will work closely with the Reporting Scientists, Project Managers and Field Scientists to ensure the production and delivery of quality, accurate reports, to agreed client specifications, often within tight timescales. You will need to communicate and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across Gardline.

The successful candidate should have a minimum of two years completed on a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline. They should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the marine environment with a scientific awareness of issues that can affect it. The successful candidate will possess excellent organisational, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills. It is essential that they have good problem solving skills and the ability to communicate complex science at public understanding levels.

An understanding of marine ecology, habitat classification and/or chemical processes along with associated legislation (particularly across the North East Atlantic) covering habitat and species protection are advantageous to the role. The ideal candidate must be confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

Training will be provided to enhance the interns skills in species and habitat identification, interpretation of chemical results to determine state of the environment and reporting on mitigation requirements. Partaking in this internship will greatly enhance their experience in statistical data analysis, ArcGIS mapping, marine environmental legislation, report writing skills and science communication.
