RSA Geotechnics is an independent geotechnical and geoenvironmental site investigation specialist based in Needham Market, Suffolk. We offer a range of professional consultancy and testing services for all aspects of ground engineering, environmental assessment, land remediation and validation.

RSA Geotechnics have a vacancy for a graduate geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineer. The post will be based at our offices in Needham Market, Suffolk, although travelling to sites located throughout the UK will be required.

Main description

Candidates must be motivated and flexible with good team working, communication, analytical, organisation and problem-solving skills. Up-to-date IT skills are essential. Daily tasks involve:

– Planning, organising, and supervising intrusive investigations.
– Undertaking fieldwork.
– Collecting, analysing, and interpreting data.
– Preparing factual and interpretative reports.
– Ensuring projects keep to budget and timescale.
– Liaison with clients, consultants, and contractors.
– Utilising specialist computer applications.

Key skills include:

– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
– Ability to work alone and in a team environment.
– Ability to carry out tasks accurately and follow strict methodologies.
– Strong attention to detail, discipline, care, and focus.
– BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in geology, civil engineering or related fields, although other qualifications will be considered.

The successful candidate will be trained to undertake site monitoring, site visits, trial pitting, soil and rock logging and laboratory test scheduling. Candidates will also be trained in the production of desk studies and factual and interpretative reports. The role includes both office-based and site-based activities and consequently a UK driving licence will be required.

The role is full-time and permanent. The salary is negotiable depending upon experience and ability. The company offers, after successful completion of a three-month trial period, 5% employer company pension contribution, permanent health insurance and life assurance.
