Cargate Engineering Ltd is a family run business operating in the wastewater and drainage industry throughout East Anglia. There is an opportunity for an all round groundworker/trainee drainage engineer apprentice to join the team.

Main description

We are seeking a candidate to commit to a long-term position within Cargate Engineering Ltd where they can complete this apprenticeship and proceed to progress further within the company.

Main duties include:

  • Drainage and tank installation
  • Electrical maintenance
  • Blocked drains
  • CCTV surveys
  • Waste management
  • OFTEC oil tank storage/spill/remediation/excavation works

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade A*-C (9-4) in maths and English is preferred.
An advantage to hold a clean driving license however, not essential.

  • Able to adapt to change quickly
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good organisational skills

Personal qualities

The ideal candidate will be hardworking, punctual and have a positive “can do” approach. They will have the ability to listen to instructions and carry out tasks following those instructions given. Overall, commitment, initiative, and the determination to succeed are crucial to this development role.

Training to be Provided

Level 2 Groundworker Apprenticeship

Things to consider

We will be moving to Lower Gorse, Rougham, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP30 9HX (just off the A14) by the end of 2021.

Due to the nature of our business, we offer a 24/7 service to our clients so you may be required to work occasional long hours.

You working week could be over 47.5hrs, therefore you must be aged 18 or over.

Future Prospects

There is an opportunity for full time role on completion of apprenticeship.
