Oakes Barn opened in November 2013 as a Free House in Bury St Edmunds serving six real ales and a selection of craft beer and lager, an excellent range of wines, gins, and ciders alongside homemade food. We are community spirited and we embrace our historical links to the medieval town and James Oakes, the historian that we took our name and inspiration from. Our aim was simple, to create a hub for people to meet, socialise and make friends.
Main description
Oakes Barn opened in November 2013 as a Free House in Bury St Edmunds serving six real ales and a selection of craft beer and lager, an excellent range of wines, gins, and ciders alongside homemade food. There is an exciting opportunity for a Hospitality Apprentice to join the team.
Day to day duties include:
- Serving drinks
- Making Cocktails
- Taking food orders
- Waiting on tables
- Cleaning Tables & general housekeeping
- Food preparation
- Setting up for events or room hire
- Keeping bar drinks well stocked
Entry requirements
GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in maths and English, or equivalent.
Skills required

Desirable:
Bar and/or restaurant experience
Personal qualities
Friendly
Value good customer service
Training to be Provided
Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Apprenticeship
Things to consider
You will be on your feet for long periods of time. Shifts will vary and you will be expected to work late hours in the evenings and weekends. It is essential to be 18 years or over due to serving alcohol.
Future Prospects
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will become a full time member of the team.
