About
Employer description
EDF Energy operates Sizewell B, the UK's only Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR), which has been operational since 1995.
The plant is currently due to close in 2035, but EDF Energy has announced plans for a 20 year life extension until 2055.
This extension would require an investment of £800 million and is part of EDF's strategy to maximize the use of existing UK reactors. Sizewell B has been a significant contributor to the UK's energy security and has already saved over 123 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. The plant's operations have also positively impacted the local economy, contributing over £15 billion to the British economy
