Apprenticeships are changing!
Norfolk County Council is proud to be supporting the government reforms for investment in apprenticeships. The changes to apprenticeships opens opportunities to existing staff and new apprentices at all levels and all ages to undertake relevant qualifications whilst earning a salary; in turn helping to raise skills and aspirations for Norfolk.
Apprenticeships will help build the workforce skills and capabilities needed now and in the future for Norfolk County Council. At NCC we view apprenticeships as highly valued, quality pathways to successful careers, talent pipelines and future skills needs.
Be the first to join our team under the new scheme!
Information and Management Technology Apprentice (Entry Level)
This is an excellent opportunity to enter the Information and Management Technology (IMT) profession in a large organisation, with a structured programme of training. We are seeking intelligent, diligent, capable and proactive people, who are passionate about a career in IMT and who can demonstrate a great attitude, together with an excellent aptitude for learning and working within a digital technology service. You must have a minimum of GCSE grade C in English and Mathematics, and a minimum of a level 2 award in ICT or related subject.
The Apprentice will be employed initially with our Desktop Computing and Service Desk teams to gain customer and product understanding, but will increasingly be involved in work over a range of the service’s activities as experience increases, and potentially then specialising in the second year on a certain team delivery area in IMT, such as Infrastructure, Applications, and Web Development.
IMT Service work covers all areas of the Council’s activities and also some external client and partner organisations.
This full time post is temporary for a period of up to 24 months to enable completion of the ‘IT, Software, Web and Telecoms professional’ course at level 3*. It is expected that the post holder would not normally take longer than 12 - 18 months to complete this level. Provision to attend the training, including revision and assessments will be provided. The initial starting grade is D (£16,781 - £17,772) and the post holder competency and course achievements will be reviewed after 12 - 18 months with potential of grade moving to E (£18,070 - £20,138).
Subject to satisfactory completion of the apprenticeship qualification and overall performance during this period, it is expected that this post will continue and the apprentice will be offered employment within the IMT service and if appropriate may be considered for further training at a higher level of apprenticeship standard, should they demonstrate the necessary commitment and aptitude.
Candidates must be prepared to travel to all locations throughout the county and possibly work outside of normal office hours occasionally.
*Eligibility for entry to the apprenticeship training and the levy funding is subject to existing qualification and suitability."
