Purpose of the job:

To provide assistance/support to the Network Manager, teaching staff, pupils and parents plus other stakeholders. Working under the direction of the Network Manager providing set up for individuals on systems and support using tools to problem-solve and troubleshoot, including the operation of a helpdesk. To support in the general maintenance and upkeep of computers and equipment throughout the site, ensuring that high standards are maintained.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

Support to the school:

To ensure that the school is always presented positively within and beyond the school
Contact with parents, students, staff and other stakeholders regarding systems and application of same
To follow and maintain school policies and procedures
To assist in shaping the direction of the school in the use of technology and setting high expectations at all times
To carry out any duties as reasonably directed by the Network Manager and / or Principal
To undertake lunchtime duties on a rota basis as required
To rigorously adhere to the school’s safeguarding procedures
Support the ethos of the school
Maintenance of safe environment

ICT Support:

Carry out installation, maintenance and first line repairs of ICT hardware and networks
Assist with the installation of software
To monitor and oversee the school’s telephone system
To prepare and set up computer/audio-visual equipment for school presentations/events
To provide support to staff, parents, students and other stakeholders in accessing technology
To respond to issues raised using the School IT helpdesk
To ensure all aspects of technology used are GDPR compliant
To support the use of technology throughout the school, ensuring that equipment and rooms are maintained to a safe standard
To assist with the day to day maintenance of the schools reprographics and associated equipment

Performance management:

To participate in the school’s arrangements for performance management
To undertake any training commensurate with the post

The duties above are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required by the Principal to carry out appropriate duties within the context of the job, skills and grade, as required.

City of Norwich School, an Ormiston Academy is a secondary school and sixth form for 11-18 year olds on Eaton Road in Norwich. It has easy access to the A11 and A140 and good bus links to the city centre.

Level 3 Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship standard, which includes:

Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
End-Point Assessment (EPA)

Training to be delivered by LMP Education on the Infrastructure Technician standard. Developing skill sets within the IT role. Understanding communication importance and legislations such as the data protection act and why these are in place. All training will be delivered by LMP Education on the job and through Smart Assessor E-Portfolio systems enabling access to teaching and resources.

Developing knowledge on the IT platforms, using MS office, IT solutions to business problems. Processing quality assurance and training towards all legislation understanding. Training will be for the duration of the qualification (apprenticeship) being taken by the individual. Qualification will last around 18 months, of which consistent work to be produced to the training provider and complying with all ESFA rules.
