IT Young Talent programme

16th April 2019

Vattenfall's goal is to enable fossil free living within one generation. We believe technology plays a key role in realising our plan and so we are now looking for the best new talents in IT.

At Vattenfall you will be in charge of powering climate smarter living through cutting-edge technology. If you want to work in a vibrant role at the forefront of technological innovation, with lots of autonomy, responsibility and freedom while enjoying the support and backing of an international network of colleagues, Vattenfall is the right place for you.

We have identified a need to recruit 200 new colleagues with an expertise in IT by 2022 – a tall order by any measure. To help fulfil this challenge, we have started our IT Young Talent programme with the goal to finding 15 young IT talents. In exchange for your superpowers we will offer you a chance to use your expertise in IT to solve major global challenges, learn new skills and develop professionally.

Kickstart your IT career at Vattenfall

Vattenfall IT acts as the company’s internal IT supplier, working closely with the business. We spearhead Vattenfall’s digital development with the goal to inspire and engage the entire organisation. As such, we are now looking for talented and motivated new colleagues to join us on our journey. As an IT Young Talent, you will have the opportunity to develop your professional and personal skills in an international context over the course of one year. We will train you and prepare you for your future challenges. During the course of the programme, we will work to maximise your personal growth and development, both as an individual and as part of a group, with top management close at hand.

Get energised

Our IT Young Talent programme offers 15 positions across different Vattenfall locations and countries and will run for twelve months, starting September 2019.

Each position will be linked to a department within a business area and location and come with its own unique responsibilities and challenges. You will work with your colleagues on a local and international level on a daily basis – both in your usual role, as well as during your two assignments (lasting 4 and 8 weeks).

During the assignments you will have the opportunity to get to know other business areas within Vattenfall and you will also take part in a 50-hour hackathon event with trainees from different parts of the organisation.

Discover your talents

During the course of the programme you will have our full and undivided attention and support along the way. We are passionate about sharing our knowledge and preparing our young generation for a bright and productive future, therefore a line manager as well as a mentor will be by your side to personally assist you. They will help you identify your talents and how and when to best utilise them.

Are you our next Young Talent?

We are looking for those who have :

  • Recently graduated with an academic degree within IT or a related field.
  • You have no more than three years’ work experience
  • Are fluent in business English, both written and spoken.
  • Local language skills will be a necessity for some positions, but don’t worry as we will specify which in the job descriptions.
  • Skills in other world languages will, as always, be a merit.

The programme has an emphasis on international relations, so you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues on an international level and visit our core IT countries.

Please keep in mind when applying that an important aspect of our selection process will be your personal motivation and reasoning for the life choices you have made so far.

What will you get in return?

We will offer our chosen candidates permanent contracts and each position will come with a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. Once you've completed the programme, you will be given even more opportunities to further your career within the company.

How do you apply?

The application period for the Young Talent programme starts 12 April and ends 8 May. You will receive further details about the process once you have submitted your application.
