Main description
Waveney Valley Joinery are passionate about making bespoke joinery for their customers. No job is too big or small, having supplied joinery all over East Anglia for the past 30 years. They are experts in creating doors, windows, staircases, gates, and fitted furniture. There is an opportunity for an Apprentice to join the team.
You will assist the team on making windows, doors and staircases. You will start with assembling joinery, but then as you progress you will begin to use machines. Then eventually, you will do the complete job. E.g. Making a window: you will be given a drawing and will be on the job start to finish doing the whole process.
Day to day duties include:
Assembling windows, doors and staircases.
Sanding windows and doors.
Cutting timber to length.
Tenoning timber.
Mortising timber.
Keeping the workshop tidy.
Entry requirements
GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in maths and English.
Skills required
To be able to listen and carry out instructions
To be eager to learn
Have the ambition to become a skilled joiner
Personal qualities
A team player
Highly motivated and reliable
Organised and self-motivated
A keen attention for detail
Training to be Provided
Level 2 Carpenter and Joiner Apprenticeship
Things to consider
Consider your ability to be able to travel to both the workshop and West Suffolk College. You will be expected to attend all the college blocks and complete all the work required including compiling a portfolio of evidence to support your qualification. The wage could increase from the minimum based on previous experience.
Future Prospects
You will be level 2 qualified and then work towards level 3 qualification. There will be progression to then have a full time job at completion.
