Job Title:                Kitchen Porter

Reports to:             Senior Chef/Line Manager (as assigned)

Overall function:    To maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness

throughout all back of house areas.

Areas of responsibility:

Customers and service

Ensure that the service you provide is to the highest possible standard at all times.
Ensure that all crockery, cutlery, kitchen equipment, utensils etc are cleaned to the highest standard and put back in their correct place, ready for use.
Ensure that kitchen waste is regularly removed and stored safely and hygienically.
Sweep and mop kitchen areas at the end of shift and as directed by the Senior Chef/Duty Manager, ensuring that you do so safely and conscientiously through use of wet floor signs.
Unload deliveries, ensuring proper storage and as directed by the senior chef.
Ensure that your station is clean and tidy and running smoothly at all times, seeking help where necessary.
Respect your workplace (including equipment and machinery) through cleanliness and care.
During quiet periods demonstrate the ability to use initiative to find appropriate jobs, for example following cleaning lists, asking chef etc.
Participate in the deep-clean of the kitchen(s), with the ultimate aim of maintaining and exceeding excellent standards of cleanliness.

Health and safety

1.     Adhere to all Company policies and procedures relating to health, hygiene and safety, including COSHH, risk assessments etc.

2.     Report any breach (or suspected breach) of health, hygiene and safety to the chef in charge/duty manager.


1.     Build and maintain good methods of communication between yourself and all other members of staff.

2.     Have respect for the views and ideas of customers and colleagues.

3.     Attend staff meetings as directed.

7.     Any other reasonable task as deemed necessary by the management team.
