Employer Description

EPR Eye Limited is part of a larger group of MRE UK Limited, which is one of the leading independent generators of renewable energy in the United Kingdom. With a portfolio of generating assets with a total net installed capacity of 165MW.

There is an opportunity for an apprentice to join the team.

Main description

During the apprenticeship you will undertake training that enables you to become qualified to undertake planned, preventative and defect maintenance of equipment to include;

Modifying
Fabricating,
Repairing,
Testing and inspecting within our systems.
Executes routine and non-routine maintenance activities in accordance with the approved processes and procedures.
Prepares work to the highest standards ensuring that correct planning has taken place with adequate and competent resources available to include the following: correct tools, spare parts and, ensuring concise method statements and risk assessments are all prepared in advance of the work.
All preparation is completed using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Ensure that safe working practises and procedures are adhered to within all areas of work. Adheres to the SHE Management System at all times
Successfully complete all aspects of the Apprenticeship Scheme such as:

To participate in the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Management System within the production teams of operations, maintenance, fuel reception and ash disposal.
Apply learned technical problem-solving skills.
To have a competent person status within the Safe System of Work.
Be self-motivated, able to develop yourself and take ownership of your career.
Ensures the correct use of tools and equipment (Applying LOLER & PUWER).

Endeavours to apply good housekeeping in all work activities and is vigilante around all areas of the site where poor housekeeping is evident by site staff or contractors.
Be ready to apply everything you learn in your day-to-day role and any projects outside of this. • Ask for feedback and are open to receive and build the knowledge and insight gained in a proactive way.
This position will give you the opportunity to learn from experienced maintenance workforce, be part of a successful biomass renewable plant and the opportunities that come from being part of a wider group of company's.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grades A-C or 5-9 / Equivalent in Maths, English and Science

Skills required

Good communication skills
IT literate in word/excel and outlook
Basic understanding of maintenance engineering

Personal qualities

Be flexible to work when the power station requires maintenance support
Be committed to safety
Be self-motivated and hardworking

Training to be Provided

Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship

Things to consider

Work within the maintenance team to develop into a multi-skilled technician but specialising as a mechanical fitter to carry out routine and non-routine, planned and unplanned maintenance to a high standard for a 24/7 power station. The biomass power station burns a blend of chicken litter and waste wood to produce electricity for the national grid.

Future Prospects

There may be opportunity for a full time role on completion of the apprentice if the position arises.
