What is the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Programme:

We’re recruiting for apprentices to join our Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician training programme working as part of one of our nuclear power stations in the UK.

During your apprenticeship you’ll be looking to make an impact – using your skills, knowledge and passion to achieve great things. So how about taking on the challenge of beating climate change?

We’re offering a four-year programme that focuses on the hands-on skills required to maintain our power stations.  During the scheme, you’ll develop specialist skills to work in the Maintenance department at one of our Nuclear power stations.

What salary and benefits are we offering you?

Salary of £14,495 plus excellent benefits
Accommodation and meal costs covered in your first two years if you do not live locally to Bridgwater, including a number of paid return journeys home

Where you’ll work:

You’ll be based at the National College for Nuclear Southern Hub in Somerset, for the first two years, and we can provide you with accommodation here if you do not live locally. You’ll then be based at your EDF location which will be Sizewell B Power Station.

To join our team you’ll need:

Five GCSEs at Grade C or above (or Grade 4 and above in the new GCSE grading structure), National 5 or equivalent, including maths, English and two science or technical subjects
A talent and passion for practical subjects and activities
You'll have the ability to work in a team and independently, as well as being able to balance the responsibilities of study and work
Desire to learn and develop your skills
Willingness to relocate as required
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.

Our Assessment Centre will be held in person, and we’ll be in touch closer to the time with the dates.
