Manufacturing Engineer Degree Apprenticeship - MUNTONS PLC

We are seeking three exceptional individuals to join us across our UK sites to be part of our Apprenticeship Degree Talent Program. You will explore manufacturing malt and malted ingredients and within 5 years, you will have experienced various job rotations to understand our Manufacturing and Supply Chain functions.

Annual wage - £20,000.00
Working week - Monday to Friday, general office hours are 8:30am – 5:00pm but with this role there could be a variety of different hours worked e.g., 6:00am – 2:00pm, 7:00am – 3:00pm, 2:00pm to 10:00pm

Total hours per week: 40
Expected duration - 60 Months

You will experience how we produce our traditional malts and then follow the brewing process and also understand how it is utilised in a wide range of malted ingredients. Spending time in our production plants you will gain an insight about the national and international dimensions of our business. After completing the programme, we expect you to move to a permanent management role in our business ideally in our Operations teams; this will be down to your performance and the potential you show us. You will be accompanied on your journey by your fellow peers as well as a dedicated mentor.

Gaining a comprehensive insight into the malting process from raw material intake to final products made from the malt, placements might include, as examples:

  • Supporting our Intake teams with their continuous improvement journey
  • Gaining hands on experience in the manufacture of malt or peated malt for the distilling industries
  • Helping our malt extract manufacturing teams look at ways of improving and developing new ways of working with systems and processe

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Through off the job training you will work towards:

  • Completion of a Manufacturing Engineer Degree Apprenticeship
  • Completion of a Malting Diploma/Master Maltster, Brewing qualification

You will also have:

  • A dedicated champion for your training programme
  • A mentor to support and guide you throughout your development
  • The support of a graduate community who have already completed the training programme

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The opportunity to gain a degree and in manufacturing engineering and secure a position with the company.

GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade 4-9) Essential
AS Level or equivalent 3 subjects (Grade EEE+) Essential

Things to consider
Must have willingness to travel and to move – rotations may be in different locations; Suffolk, Yorkshire or Asia. Office hours are 08:30 – 17:00 but there could be a variety of different hours worked e.g. 6am – 2pm, 7am – 3pm, 2pm to 10pm. Dependent on candidate's location . A possibility of shift work occasionally from 6am-6pm and vice-versa.
