Established in Milton Keynes in 2002, Steven Eagell is now the largest Toyota and Lexus dealership in the UK, with over 30 sites, all of which have Sales and Service centres, located in the South East of England and the Midlands. They have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join the team.
As Apprentice Payroll Assistant, you will be based in the accounts centre within the head office, reporting to and supported by the Payroll Manager.
You will be responsible for a variety of duties including:
Assisting with the upkeep of the Payroll relevant data on the HR System.
Ensuring relevant paperwork is received for payroll processing.
Processing Starters and Leavers.
Processing variable payments including bonus, commission, and overtime.
Pension Administration.
Keeping accurate monthly records on the payroll processing.
Assisting employees with payroll and pension queries.
You will be expected to have regular contact with the staff and managers around the business to assist them in ensuring the payroll relevant information is received on time and is correct, assisting them with pulling relevant reports from the system, and inputting additional information where required.
Entry requirements
We require the successful applicant to hold a grade C (4) GCSE in both Maths and English, or the Level 2 equivalent in functional skills.
Skills required
The following skills are essential:
Organised.
Excellent attention to detail.
Computer literate.
Able to use EXCEL at an intermediate level.
Able to compose professional letters to employees when required.
Personal qualities
It is essential that the successful candidate is:
Friendly and personable.
Be confident in talking to others both on the phone and in person.
Be honest and open, and take ownership of their mistakes (we all make them)
Qualifications taken
Full Payroll Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship
Things to consider
The role is based on strict deadlines. This means that there are times in the month where the workload is heavy and will involve long periods of time on the computer undertaking sometimes monotonous tasks. Other times of the month will be very slow when we are awaiting information from other areas of the business (this will be the time to focus on your studies). Dealing with peoples pay can mean dealing with emotional employees if they feel they have been paid incorrectly. The successful candidate will be guaranteed an increase in salary upon qualifying.
