To apply for this job, you must be claiming Universal Credit and 16 to 24 years old.

Flagship Housing Developments Limited

We’re Hopestead. We want to end homelessness in the east of England. We know that’s ambitious, we know we need a different approach and we know we can’t do it alone. This exciting role is to support Hopestead to do our bit towards ending homelessness in the east of England: tackling the causes and impacts of homelessness, as well as homelessness itself. Whatever it takes. Big things, small things, hands on and using the full breadth of your resourcefulness.

This role demands an open mind, a clear eye on the goal and a ‘do whatever it takes’ attitude. Reporting to our Head of Operations, you’ll help us to continue to understand what homelessness looks like in the east of England and what can be done to make it rare, brief and non-reoccurring. This will involve looking into existing research, collating key findings for the team and identifying gaps where Hopestead can better understand the causes and impacts of homelessness.

You will provide support with the planning, creation and design of communications, including through our social media channels. You will work with our team to learn about the causes of homelessness and collate data to provide a clear picture of the volume and scale of homelessness to shape how we can end it. You will also be responsible for the collation and distribution of measures & outcomes on our projects, social media engagement and donations we receive, so we can reflect and understand the impacts to make improvements.

And because Hopestead’s a start-up – putting the kettle on, monitoring, circulating and responding to emails and incoming mail, assisting with organising events and meetings, and doing anything else that needs doing. No job or task is above or below us. As part of Flagship Group no-one is better placed to end homelessness. We consider that we have a fundamental responsibility to do so. This doesn’t only benefit those who are homeless. Sustainable communities benefit absolutely everyone. Regardless of who you are and whatever your life story, we should all have the chance to live in a society where the cycles of homelessness can be broken. Because we believe everyone deserves a place to call home.

In terms of a base, your work will be predominantly based from home with travel around East Anglia as required. Head office base is at King Street, Norwich, NR1 1PD and you can expect to work from here around 1 or 2 days a week.

At Hopestead, your attitude matters as much as your skills. We can teach you most of those. But what we can’t teach you is how to care and have a relentless drive and passion for social purpose. To hit the ground running, get stuck in, be excited and do what’s needed to make a difference. If this isn’t at the centre of everything you do, then this isn’t the role for you. But if it is, you’ll be part of a small team in an organisation that you can grow and evolve together with. You can help us stand up and be counted. And do just that for those who are homeless right across the east of England. Because everyone deserves a place to call home.

Some key skills and experience that would be beneficial are: -

  1. Be motivated by a strong social purpose
  2. Have an understanding of the Housing and / or Charity Sector
  3. Have strong interpersonal & communication skills
  4. Have good written and verbal skills
  5. Be computer literate (Microsoft products)
  6. Have an understanding of social media and the impact it can have
  7. Be able to deal confidently and effectively with people at all levels
  8. Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  9. Have personal discipline to study, achieve results and be willing to learn

A driving licence would be desirable as the role would ideally involve some travel around the east of England.

Working pattern is flexible and can be agreed with the successful candidate, covering a minimum of 3 days a week. There may be some need to work outside of regular 9 to 5 hours on occasion.
