Ajax is a family owned company established in 1975 in Ipswich Suffolk. Ajax is known for selling spare parts and accessories for white goods (Washing Machines, Tumble Dryers, Vacuums, Cookers etc). We also offer a sales, service and hire solution for commercial cleaning equipment and janitorial supplies.

We sell spares parts and accessories to customer all over the UK via our in store trade counter, websites and third party market places which we trade on.

For commercial cleaning equipment we have contracts with NHS, Large facility management companies, small and large cleaning contractor, schools, Academy's and local governments. We cover Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk and the surrounding areas suppling a mixture of commercial cleaning equipment , chemicals and janitorial supplies.

Ajax is made up of a small team of 5. Who work hard to constantly achieve our level of service which we aim to offer. All staff members undertake a varied job role so not every day is the same. Ajax tries to create a relaxed and supportive work environment, as in our industries we are always learning.

Main description

There is an exciting opportunity for a customer service apprentice to join the team.

The role will be based in our trade counter showroom. With the chance to assist with off site demonstrations for commercial equipment as and when required.

Daily duties include:

  • Answering telephone & dealing with customer enquires & sales.
  • Serving General Public & trade customer at trade counter as well as helping them identify parts required using our extensive database.
  • Assisting in and processing orders for customer.
  • Helping with processing goods in orders.
  • Assisting with stock control in our warehouse.
  • Helping to keep website & third party market places listings up to date & marketing materials.
  • Assisting with machine demonstrations both on and off site.
  • Updating and help with development of marketing materials online and offline.
  • Any other tasks laid out by the management.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade 4(C) or above in English, Maths and ICT is desirable.

Skills required

Ability to work as part of a team or on your own is essential.
Ability to work under pressure and to a deadline is essential.
Good communication skills.

Personal qualities

Motivated to achieve both personal and business goals.

Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship

Things to consider

You need a good understanding if ICT as use of a computer is a large part of the role, as all our systems are computer based. The working area is located in trader counter showroom area. There is currently COVID restrictions in place for safety.

Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm with 1 hour for lunch. Friday, 9am to 4.30pm with 1 hour for lunch. Saturday, 9am to 2pm (when working a Saturday, the weekday start time would be 10am instead of 9am).

Future Prospects

Providing the candidate is successful, a full time position will be offered at end of the apprenticeship.
