Main description

We have recently opened our brand-new garden centre and are looking to expand our Retail team. Working with our retail area supporting our sales and till assistants; we are looking for motivated individuals who can follow instructions and communicate with customers. You will support our mission to offer a memorable garden centre experience, delivering wow customer service and giving employees, customers, suppliers and community a reason to smile.  

Key duties

  • Moving trolleys, throughout the day you will be collecting empty trolleys from the car park and returning them to the shop areas
  • Assisting customers by carrying purchases to their vehicles , particularly with heavy or bulky items, helping load into cars and answering basic queries
  • Moving stock from/to the warehouse and moving promotional materials and displays around the centre
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the garden centre and stock areas , carrying out cleaning duties and minor maintenance works

Personal skills

  • Good verbal communication and customer service skills, confidence in dealing with members of the public
  • Able to follow instructions from your manager and work on your own initiative
  • Able to lift, bend, carry or move plants and products and be on your feet all day
  • Able to push/pull several trollies across a site throughout the day and in all weathers

Working rota

  • You’ll need to work 4 weekdays and 1 alternating weekend day, 
  • You’ll need to work bank holidays (as part of a rota with other assistants), but will be given a day’s holiday in lieu

Working with

  • Reporting into the Plant Area Manager
  • Working closely with rest of team and other departments
