Student Welfare Officer – West Suffolk College – Ipswich -£23,445 - £25,038 depending on experience - Permanent contract Mon to Fri 08.30 – 17.00
An excellent opportunity has become available for a Student Welfare Officer to join our expanding team here at West Suffolk College. Undertake weekly client work where counselling is not appropriate.
Make referrals as necessary to external agencies.
Act as line manager for the Welfare Administrative team and undertake staff appraisal.
Organise the welfare induction process for the new students at the start of the year.
Organise staff training for new staff, volunteers and social work students.
Provide general advice and help to students.
Publicise the college bursary fund and monitor its administration.
Act as Child Protection Officer in the absence of the Student Welfare Manager
Deliver child protection or other welfare related training to West Suffolk College staff.
Required qualifications, skills and experience
Degree in a related subject – for example behavioural studies, counselling, mental health.
Knowledge of one of the following – Welfare rights, Housing, Student loans or emotional support for young people.
